Carter's Fall Soccer Season (First ENCL Season with Coach Ben Looney) & First Indoor Soccer

This was the first official season of moving up to the largest field and playing 11 v 11. The team is 60% new to Classics and with 17-18 players, the playing time is competitive. They started off in August with some weekend friendlies and then participated in the Pre-Labor Day Tournament the weekend before school started - August 25 & 26, 2018. They got 1st place during this tournament playing in the very top bracket, beating Arsenal, Boerne and others.

Super Sister award for 16 plus hours this weekend in the 100 degree plus heat!

After the first game of this tournament, Coach Ben had lots to say at the parent and player meeting in the 100 degree heat. He talked about toughening up, having no excuses. He talked about the boys not being critical of teammates when they send a bad pass or loose the ball. He encouraged lots of their own practice outside of normal team practices. He talked about intensity and how the boys have got to want the ball. He disced walking on the field super confident every single game, like you own the field, no matter what. He talked about focus!

We had tons and tons of rain in the month of September limiting practices. But the boys hit the road on September 15 weekend for their first game in Dallas.

This week in-between these 2 travel weeks, was a big week for Carter at practices. With 17 incredible players on the team, Carter had yet to start any of the games in late August or September. After Tuesday's practice, Coach Ben huddled the team together and called out Carter and told the entire team that he had earned a starting position doing the Oklahoma games due to his hard toward and intensity during practices. We had brought another teammate home with us in the car, so he waited to tell us until it was just the 5 of us. I will never forget the 5 of us sitting at the kitchen counter that evening around 8PM with tears falling down all of our faces. It was such a proud moment for Carter and it felt so good! Sure enough he started at Center Mid in OKC, Saturday morning.

That weekend, the entire team loaded up in the team bus on Friday afternoon, September 21 and drove all the way to Oklahoma City to play a game 9/22 and then another game Sunday 9/23 in Tulsa. They lost both games, but Blake said that Tulsa team was one of the best on the nation. Blake and Delaney tagged along in the car behind and they all made time to explore OU campus, while there.

October 28 weekend was a muddy game weekend at home.

The boys had ALL of November off and just one game in December. It's been a rough start to they year. I don't think they have won a game.

Carter started his very first season of indoor soccer in early December and is having lots of fun playing with some of his old teammates - Raffe, Boston and Carter B.
