Well before Thanksgiving, we were stuffing Christmas cards, one of our very favorite long time traditions to work on every year.
Carter is still giddy with joy the weekend after Thanksgiving when we pull out all the Christmas decorations. This year, we really did enjoy the entire process and made it into weekend of unpacking everything and getting excited about all the traditions we we have. We still keep the 12 year old plastic children's nativity and read the entire story of Jesus' birth. This year, we added more details to the original 10 year old version since the kids have gotten older.
Reflecting on our 2018 goals gets more fun every year as we get older. Delaney and Blake definitely achieved their resolutions this year!

Mine was a major failure, not finishing one blog book, but we had so much fun bringing out the first two and reading them together.
After reflecting on all of last year's goals, we hung the stockings with care...
...and decorated the tree.
Then the kid's pulled out my Christmas tree collection.
on a break from Christmas tree decorating...
As we transition to more of the real reason for Christmas, we love one of newer traditions of the Advent candle wreath.
We love reading the kid's previous year's Santa lists. Such a fun memory.
Then it's the annual decision on whose turn it is to put the star on the top of the tree.
While Carter was doing it this year (for the record) Delaney was hiding behind the chair so nervous.
Meaningful Christmas is still one of our absolute favorites and one I know the kid's will remember for the rest of the their lives.
The evening we got back from New Mexico, Will Ferrel had already arrived to our house!
It was so sweet walking by one December evening and seeing Delaney just stopped and staring up at the tree.
Meme always leads the fun Christmas cookie decorating.
After many years of not loving our old Christmas topper and unsuccessful years of searching for one we loved, 2018 was the year that we found it! Our new glass Bethlehem Star.
And for the first time in a while we put the Christmas trees up in the girl's rooms. They absolutely loved it.
