On our 3rd day in Breckenridge and 2nd day skiing, Blake and I originally planned to trade off skiing with the older kids a half day each and stay and play with Delaney the other part. Although Delaney liked ski school, we didn't feel like they skied that much with the 4 year old age group and I definitely had no desire to ski a full day at all. At 38 years old, gone are my hard core days where I want to ski 2 or 3 full days. As long as I get one long 8 hour day in the powder, I'm happier cozy in the condo, or out exploring in the snow or in town. I also had some major swelling around one of my ankle bones after the first long day of hard skiing that was extremely painful the next morning, so Delaney and I went and exchanged out my ski boots that morning. After putting the new ones on around lunch, and still feeling the pain from the constriction of the boots, I knew Blake would get to take the kids for the rest of the afternoon.
Carter and Addison had so much fun skiing with Blake all day and kept up well. They skied blues all day together and even did some blacks. Their favorite blue runs were Columbia and Gold's King. They literally wanted to start their day off with one of the easier blacks - Volunteer and Peerless. This was the only time that Addie fell and it was also their first experience with big moguls. Addie said, "Mogals are so much fun and one time, I didn't go around it and instead, went fast up on top and over it and landed in powdered snow that was so deep I couldn't get up!" Carter's favorite memories of the day were going on his first ever black run. "I've seen so many people do the mogul runs but I had never done it. Dad told me to take it slow at the beginning, but soon I was flying down! I was sad that the forest tree runs weren't open this time but I loved having my GoPro on my head all day. I got tons of awesome videos."
Much to their dad's dismay, they actually enjoyed the moguls and proceeded to do that same black a couple more times. In total they ended up doing around 17 runs and they totally where able to keep up the entire time. Blake kept saying, "It was so much fun!"
Later that afternoon, Delaney and I headed to the bunny hill and Carter, Addison and Blake met us there and it was one of my favorite times on the whole trip. For an hour, Delaney went up the "magic carpet" with her brother and sister and practiced coming down. It was amazing to see the growth in just that one hour's time of practicing over and over, again. Carter and Addison focused on nothing but helping their sweet Delaney.
Saying good-bye to the mountain!
Delaney got emotional when she realized we weren't going to be skiing anymore. Addison was right there consoling her.
Returning our ski's and going sledding!
This is the Maggie Pond bridge that I have walked across since I was 12 years old! This time after we crossed, we saw a gorgeous red fox that came with in 4 feet of us.
So much fun sledding in all the beautiful soft powder snow. That was a fun early evening playing outside in the snow, for all of us!
