Throughout the year, we talk a lot about recognizing and using our God given gifts to do good. This is our 3rd year of ringing the Salvation Army Bell at Walmart and such a great opportunity for the kids to really see an example of this. It is getting them to see how smiling and saying Merry Christmas, even when the shopper entering the store doesn't even look them in the eyes and ignores them as they walk by, can often times result in the shopper putting in a few cents or even dollars in the red kettle on their way out the door. This year, Carter brought his violin and played the same 4 songs over and over for almost 2 hours. Addison, although super sick that morning, even wanted to come use her talents of performing and talking to people as a way to spread God's love. Delaney was able to use the afternoon to continue to increase her confidence in looking people in the eyes, speaking to them and practicing her "thank you's." She even managed to get a $100 donation for "looking cute and being out there." Talk about using your "gifts" when you are 4 years old. It truly is one of the absolute best tradition we do.
