Going into the 2017/2018 Soccer season, Addie's team was given a choice by Coach Heather Boss and Classics to play up from the Academy level. Here's the background, during the Spring of 2017, Everton played all teams that were a year older or born in 2007. They not only competed but won almost all their games, which caused the options available for this season.
Classics allowed Heather to move the entire team of Everton up to play "Select" instead of remaining in the "Academy." This allowed the girls more competitive games as they will be playing the best teams with girls born in 2007, as Addie's team has all 2008 birthdays. If the team elected not to move up to the "Select" level, they would have had to play in the boys bracket of the Academy for 2008's.
While it is a great honor and testament to the girls and Coach Heather's hard work to be asked to move up, it is a much larger commitment with travel. Addison has also been asked to join an additional night's practice each week specific for the Goalies. In addition, at the beginning of the Fall season, Addison was asked to play full time goalie for the 1st ranked 2007 girls teams, by Coach Dennis, thus she has been practicing regularly 3 nights a week with 2 days of games on the weekends. She has loved playing soccer five days a week and was abel to excel at school this semester, during it all.
Other key differences this move up made, was changing them from playing 7 vs 7 to playing 9 vs 9 as well as increasing to two - 30 minute halves. This allowed the team to pick up a couple of additional good players born in 2008 that will hopefully all get to play together moving forward.
Then girls had a fun Pre-season Soccer Party at the Perkins in the last week of Summer.

First Soccer Tournament of the Season - August 19, 2017
Meme woke up at 3AM to make her first game and it was nice and hot. It was their first time playing on a slightly bigger field and 9 vs 9. They beat the other Classic Select '07 team but lost to the SA United and Dallas teams. We knew it would be a learning experience and the girls did great! We know there is going to be huge growth in the next year now that the girls are playing officially up an entire year.
Scrimmage vs the 2007 Boys
2 weekends later in September, our Classics Everton 2008 girls scrimmaged the boys Classics 2007 team on a wonderful Friday night and Carter got to play goalie for him!

On Saturday morning, September 16, 2017 - Addison played her very first game as goalie with the Division 1 2007 Classics Girls Team coached by Coach Dennis. This was the first time she had ever played 60 FULL minutes at goalie and it was the first really hard game she had ever had, as a goalie. She only knew a couple of the girls on the team and we were so proud of her for being asked to play with them. This was a huge learning opportunity for Addison - I believe she allowed her normal confidence playing with her own team to waver and it was evident with her game play, that morning. Even thought they loss 2-7, Addison kept her head up the entire game and didn't let emotion take over at all, which was unbelievable! She also learned what it felt like to be the outsider on a team and it was a good lesson to learn to ensure that any guest players that join Everton feel welcome the entire time!
September 17, 2017 - Everton had a game in San Marcos vs. Pflugerville. This was the most exciting game yet and although they lost a very hard fought battle 2-3, these girls played hard in the 95 degree heat the entire game! Addison had her best game yet and we were so proud of her and her entire team, for the heart they displayed the whole game. The biggest adjustment, thus far, of playing a year up, is the increased physicality of the older girls. We know the girls will learn but it's frustrating to watch them getting pushed around but our girls didn't waver and stayed strong!
And after the San Marcos game, we explored a local BBQ joint!
September 30's game against Austin Lonestar, in San Marcos, was pretty evenly matched, although they probably should have been able to pull out a victory since they were up 4-2 with about 2 minutes left. After ending the game in a tie, their record, thus far, for the season is 1-1-2.
Friday night, October 6, the Everton girls had a special treat, Coach Heather Boss invited them to Austin to watch the UT Soccer girls play.
October 7th's game against the much more physical River City team, which we tied several weeks ago, ended up in a loss for our girls. But the good news was that we had both MeMe and Aunt Danielle in attendance for the game.
October 15's game was an exciting one against one of the toughest teams in their division - The Austin Lone Star girls. It was a incredibly tough battle and the other team won 1-0 while Addison was playing defense in the back and mistakenly touched the ball in the box, giving them a penalty kick, so close. Ella Perkins was playing goalie and did an incredible job, almost blocking the penalty kick.
Addison also played goalie in 2 additional games this weekend for the 2007 girl's team where she played 120 minutes of goalie and did an incredible job! On Sunday morning, the 2007 team won their first game!
Saturday morning, October 21, we were in San Marcos playing again. This was their first big loss where they really were outplayed. Blake was out of town this week but Carter stepped up and took care of getting all the gear in and out of the car. We had a weekend of jammed fingers, too!
October 27 and 28 was a busy soccer weekend for Addison, once again. She played with Everton in the first really cold late evening Friday game where they beat Lone Star 2-1.
Then, we headed to Austin on Saturday morning to watch Addie have yet another amazing game playing 60 minutes in the goal, for the 2007 team! Although they lost 1-2, the game was an exciting one!
November 3rd and 4th weekend was yet another exciting and muddy soccer weekend for Addison! Friday night, Everton played under a full moon.

Addison finally had a couple of weekends off from soccer but on Black Friday, just a day after returning from our big Big Bend trip, Blake and Addison packed up and headed to Dallas for Addison to play in a 3 day tournament, as goalie, for the older 2007 girls Classics team! Addison loved having all her family there to cheer her on!
The very next weekend was the last tournament of the 2017 year - Classics Black and Blue.
This was a huge season for Addison, as her confidence and aggression on the field really grew.
