Carter's 1st Half of 5th Grade at Roan Forest

Carter started out the new school year actively as members again of the Lighthouse Leadership Team.

Peanut Butter Bowl Pep Rally the very first week of school. They had fun leading their peers and discussing the 7 habits. They got to hang out with the Johnson High school cheerleaders, football players and mascots!

Grandparents Day on 9/8/2017 - As Lighthouse members, they worked all morning to help with the arriving grandparents. Blake and I received several texts throughout the morning telling us how amazing they were doing talking to everyone and escorting them to their grandchild's classrooms. YaYa came to spend the morning with them, too!

Carter was selected at the end of 4th grade to be a Roan Forest patrol. We did afternoon patrols during this first semester and he came every day, telling us he learned to correctly fold the American and Texas flag and all kinds of stories.

September and every month of the year is filled with lots of school wide Lighthouse Team Pep Rally's. It really is an amazing opportunity for the kids to show their leadership and communication skills!

October was busy with their first big choir performance, APEX Fun Run and Red Ribbon Week! And like that, our 6 straight years of marking shirts as Carter's friends run, is over.

Red Ribbon Week in October

Bike Rodeo in late October, Carter took 1st place again!

November started out with Parent/Teacher conferences! They went so well and Carter was prepping for this big upcoming King George Living Museum Project. The only subject Carter as struggled any in, is Spanish Dual Language, coming home with high B. We did a couple of after school tutoring and have found it comes largely from lack of knowing context and definitions of Spanish vocabulary and not taking time to look it up. Carter has especially taken to drawing this year.

November 17, 2017 - Carter did an outstanding job with his King George project!

Carter has loved being part of the 5th Grade Strings Program and loves practicing the violin any chance he gets!

PTA Meeting and Choir Musical Performance - December 5, 2017

Carter got the staring role in the school's Winter musical! He was "Uncle Nick" and slowly turned into Santa as the program went on. The highlight of the show was the comedic performance when Addison came out on the stage, as a police woman and pulled him over! Such a fun memory! We were beyond proud of Carter is how many lines he memorized and really brought to life in a short amount of time.

December 15 - Both kids got to spend the day singing to nursing homes with choir. They each made several hand written notes to take to the residents. Reading them melted my heart. It's one of our very favorite field trips.

December 21, we had the end of the year choir party!

Blake is up at the school all the time, however Carter's Birthday, December 18 was a special day because he was there with them all day, as a WATCH DOG!

Carter loved celebrating his last elementary school birthday with us bringing up cookie cakes for him and all his friends!

Carter's last 5th grade Winter Party on the last day of school, was a blast!

The first half of 5th grade is in the books for Carter!
