The reason for a super fun weekend in College Station was to drop Carter off for his first time at Texas A&M Soccer Camp. This was a 4 night camp that we had heard really good things about for a couple of of years. 3 of Carter's teammates at Classics had gone the Summer prior so there was a group of 9 Classics boys that got to experience a week in a dorm, The Calloway House.
Drop off was chaos in the most organized way possible. There were no lines and they immediately had everything ready and told us where to go. There were just a ton of people checking into the Calloway House with multiple camps using the dorm for the week. It was just WAY different than the environment at drop offs I had been used to at LLYC. I was honestly nervous and second guessing my decision, for weeks, to allow him at attend a 4 night/5 day camp like this. For my 11 year old, I just get the sense that there just was just hardly any adult or even college aged supervision in the dorms besides "lights out" around 10:30 or 11PM. Although I think their wildest story of the group of boys was when two of them, older 7th and 8th graders, went up to the 5th floor to "talk to the girls." Carter was quick to say he didn't go. They had "pizza parties" every single night at 10PM after their late night games and practice.
Carter went to camp with his flip phone and we talked and texted multiple times a day, except for the last full day, which was nice. Every single other boy had a smart phone and even Rafe told us, "During free time, everyone was on their phone." Carter told us about an epic games of hide and seek and the funny stories of locking one another out of their rooms constantly.
However, on the flip side, he got to spend 5 days having SO MUCH fun with his soccer friends and with out a doubt, amidst all the fun, they played a lot of soccer and he really felt like he had developed and grown in his skills. On top of that, he got the true experience of living on a college campus and his love for Texas A&M and college life in general, definitely grew.

Raffe K was his roommate. There were 6 total Classics boys in his suite and 3 more across the hall. |

Saying our last good bye which was so chaotic! |

The aftermath when Blake walked into the dorm room to pack him up to leave. He even found Rafe's toothbrush underneath Carter's bed and Rafe disclosed it had been "missing" for 3 days.
