Carter's First Cotillion - 5th grade

I vividly remember Cotillion when I was 12 and 13 years old and was excited to introduce Carter to the famous etiquette class. Realizing that his extra circular and sports evening schedule is just going to get busier and busier, I took the initiative to sign him up at 11 years old and forgo the 5 weeks of optional soccer practice and church choir. Just as I had thought, he has loved every single moment of it and we have had hours of stories of things he has learned including how to do 3-4 dances like the fox trot, how to escort a lady to her seat and how to get her food. He's learned how to hold conversations and my heart was exploding when I picked him up from the 2nd class and he had danced with a young girl and while dancing, they discovered they both share a passion for Harry Potter. They seemed to have deep 5th grade conversations about the books and she even shared a website that he could do to find out what "house" he belonged to. Carter made sure to finish the 2nd book and take the test before seeing her again the following Wednesday. Love my sweet, sweet boy.

Week 1 - 1.24.2018

Week 2:

Week 3's iconic 1950's party:

Week 4:
This week was all about dinner etiquette. Once I picked him up, he talked for 30 minutes straight about everything at dinner, like how to pass everything, how to excuse yourself, what if you have something gross in your mouth, how to fold your napkin. I was so excited about what fun he is having learning so much!

Week 5 - Final Party and Paren't Night. I was sad when I realized that I would be out of town for my National Sales Meeting during the last evening but knew he was in great hands with my mom and his Ya-Ya. It was a very special night for her and she was very exited about. The text I received first that night from my mom was "Carter is a good dancer. All the girls cut in!"

Overall, Carter loved every single second of Cotillion, he never complained about going. I look forward to his sister joining him next year and for years to come!
