LLFC - Day 4: Rappelling, Geocaching, Canoeing & Rodeo

Day 4 - Thursday
The adults including Mike, Megan, Amy, Kevin, Blake and I got a little adult only time while rappelling the 40 foot wall. We've enjoyed hanging in out with the Holmes Family from Houston and quickly realized they are super fun. The 40 foot cliff was super easy and we are ready to request the the 120 foot cliff - Battleship, next time we are there.

One of the most amazing thing about LLFC is how they structure the activities so that you can choose to have adult only time because of the support of the incredible couselotr.s This particular morning, Carter and Addie did rilfery, on their own. They were super confident shooting the 2 different .22's. They got to put the bullets in themselves. Carter go to shoot 17 times and hit target 17 times (Insert pic) and Addison hit 13 out of 17.

Lunch and a bouncy house break for the kids was followed by a super easy session of geocaching. Delaney and my "Popcorn dates" continued. I loved taking time to play cards each day with the kids.

Thursday afternoon we had fun canoeing in front of the original Laity Lodge where Carter brought is fly fishing rod and caught his first fish with a fly, standing on the dock directly in front of the Lodge. Addison had an absolute ball with Andrew talking his hear off for 2 hours. One of my very favorite memories of this incredible day was Delaney on my canoe for a coupe of hours just floating up and down the peaceful river.

Blake and I have loved reading out of the Action Bible, even by ourselves, many days. We spent time with Carter reading it while the girls napped. As the week went along, we found that afternoon naps were a total must, even for Addison, in order to keep her going at a strong level at 10PM at night.

There is something magical about this camp. It truly is the most amazing place to feel like a true summer camp but to be here with your family and get to experience it together.

Wow! Thursday nights Rodeo night was absolutely a blast! I had no idea it would be so engaging and fun. Our family along with the Perkins were on the Bandidtio team with counselors - Laura, Jackson and Andrew. Carter kicked off the events, participating in the calf ride and came home with a blue first place ribbon and 2 nice bruises to remember it by.

I then participated in the "calf dress" where we had to catch a calf and put a shirt on it and sprint back to be the first team to sit down. We came home with the blue ribbon for that event too!

Then Blake represented the Bandito's with the event titled "Bring Home the Bacon," scoring 1st place in running and catching a pig and carrying it to the front of the ring. Besides a blue ribbon, Blake also scored a nice "excretion" from the little piglet in all the commotion. (We have lots of videos of Carter's spring and victory with the pig.)

Carter dominated the Pie Eating Contest for yet another 1st place ribbon! Followed by a compete domination of Carter, Addison and Noah Davis on the 3 - legged race!

Next up, Megan and Delaney along with Mike and Asher participated in the "Relay Shovel Race" and I was SO proud of Delaney and how well she did. It was a very chaotic time with lots of commotions and yelling and she totally did it (a promised ice cream did help seal the deal when she got a little nervous.) That was pretty much the only event that the Banditos didn't win 1st place but we came back nicely with a victory by Mike in the "King of The Ring." It was the ultimate victory in the Tug O War, to seal the deal, between the four teams.

Wow.... what a memorable night. To top the night off, one of the favorite memories we won't forget is all piled in the back of the trailers and seeing the fireflies all along the bushes during the drive home through the Frio River.

The night was over yet as we came back to camp around 9:30 to a big dance up on the basketball court. Delaney and Asher enjoyed their first Orange Cream Sodas and Addison was ABSOLUTELY in her element owning the dance floor and doing her two- step that her Aunt Danielle had helped her perfect over the last year. It sure came in handy on this evening. It was fun watching the boys off to the sides of the dance floor. Blake took Delaney and Carter back to the room around 10 and I stayed with Addie, Amy and Hadley for while before begging Addison to call it a night around 11.

I really wanted to take advantage of this unique and amazing environment and create some memories just with Addison, so we both put on just headlights and went for a long walk in the pitch black along the Frio River water front, across the bridge that was covered in cob webs and up into the tree house. It was a moment for me to focus on how fearless and courageous this 9 year old girl is of mine. As we walked back through camp around midnight, we were shocked to see how clear the sky was this particular Thursday evening. It hadn't been like this is the night before, so we took some time to soak it in, before getting into the shower and washing off an incredible amazing day's worth of dust filled memories.
