LLFC - Day 3: Kid's Questions & Alpine Tower

As a family, we committed to reading the Action Bible together over the next 6-9 months and after lunch time, we continued reading. As we read through the first significant stories of the Bible - Noah and the Arch, God's Rainbow Promise, the questions that come out especially from Carter were remarkable. As a parent, they are also intimidating at times. Today's questions were...

"At first God designed us to live forever, the Bible shows people
regularly living 950 years, so why do we live so much less, now?"

Due to the time that this LLFC "creates for us," it's unique to actually be able to pause and read and follow up with Carter's questions. Blake was able to find in Genesis, after the flood, how God changed his mind and said and we could read it through with Carter.

Other questions Carter has asked is, "if dinosaurs came before people,
but there was nothing before God and God make humans on the
6th day, then did God not make dinosaurs?"

We had to call in Sean for that one!

Another question from Carter, "God supposedly created and knows everything, so with Adam and Eve, why did God even make the forbidden tree to even tempt them?"

Addie asked, "If God knows everything, then why did he even have to ask
Adam and Eve what they had done?"

They asked, "Who made Satan if there was nothing before God?"

Carter asked, "Why did they stop writing the Bible? Like that miracle story that they made into a movie when the kid fell from the tree and lived? Why's isn't that in the Bible?"

Today's activities were the Alpine Tower which the older 2 kids did with Blake while Delaney and I hung out. (I think Perkins have Go Pro Pics from this day that I don't have.)

I love all the card playing and nap taking.

"Kids Night Out" was a night where the kids and adults split up for the evening, allowing the adults some "adult time." It was a perfect correlation to the Perkins' 14th year wedding anniversary.

Something that the guitar player said this morning, stayed with me. He challenged us to ensure we were taking advantage of every moment of the day, not to be lazy and to make sure we are taking time to embrace each moment. I am glad he said that, I want to make sure that we are taking advantage of letting the kids stay up late and just make memories, whether it's allowing them to sit in the bounce house in the late evening with friends getting to decide when they come back to the cabin. Blake and I made conscious time for one another and just trying to talk about something other than our kids! ;)

Delaney told us that she didn't want to do the zip line when we were picking her up after the ice cream treat. It was pitch black at 9:15PM but we asked her if she wanted to go and she surprised us when she said, "Yes!" So Carter, Blake and I took her on it twice and we were so proud of her.

Then Blake and I laid in the swing and talked until late and we saw our three children walking towards our cabin and followed them to see what they would do when we weren't there.

You couldn't help but notice the stars in our safe little oasis in the canyon. This particular evening, Blake, Carter and I attempted to use old method of finding constellations and when that wasn't working well, we pulled out 21st century's technology app and found Jupiter (we think.) Good thing that app doesn't need an Internet connection to work!

(^^I think Blake has photos to add from his phone. ^^)

10:29PM and as I was heading to bed, I couldn't help and pause and notice Carter laying with Delaney and Addison wrapping up her shower, taking time to hit a temporary pause and just soak up this amazing day and time in life.
