Father's Day 2017

 (Blake is 39 and kids are 10, 9 & 4)

What a wonderful and impromptu Father's Day it was. Just getting back in town from being away 7 days, we had nothing really planned so last minute, we invited the Perkins 5 over for lunch which also turned into dinner 6 hours later. It was just perfect.

LLFC - Where Is My Scooter?

We heard this question a million times in the week that we were there. The Brown and Perkins 6 scooters kept mysteriously disappearing, getting taken by other kids around camp. Although we would find them with a little bit of a hunt of front porches and random pathways, it got a little mundane always wondering where they had disappeared to. Next time, I promise to brightly label their names in some obnoxious neon colors.

LLFC - The Counselors

The LLFC counselors are all so amazing. One of my favorite things to do was to meet as many as I could during our time there and listen to their stories and how Laity Lodge has played such a large part in their lives. The little ones, Delaney and Asher, got to spend great one on one time with the counselors when they attended Kid's Club during devotional time and for a couple of hours each day while we did activities with the older kids. One of our favorite traditions that evolved by the 2nd day ofcamp was our kids eating lunch or dinner with a table of LLFC counselors. I loved looking over at their normally loud table and seeing them interact with college aged young adults that they look up to, "cool people" that love God and aren't afraid to claim it! They also learned some pretty interesting facts and games - like Black Magic which took me all week to figure out how to play.

Our family's counselor, Jordon, was spending his 14th Summer at Laity Lodge. He's entering his senior year and about to graduate from Baylor and pursue medical school. I couldn't believe he so readily volunteered at 11PM on a Thursday night to wake up at 5:30AM the next morning to take us on a hike. Each conversation solidified my passion for my kids to start their own LLYC journey. After getting to know these amazing young adults, I can't help  but want to do everything I can to encourage my own kids to take a similar path to continue to build a solid foundation in life and surround themselves with Christlike people, during such a pivotal time in life. I would stare at Carter and Addison and could just see them at 19 years old here serving other families and setting examples for the next generation.

I loved meeting Jackson and learned about how he and his family just moved to Kerrville are from IOWA.
