The very first week of the Summer, I noticed a trend of some very poor behavior going on in our home. It seemed like basic manners and simple etiquette had been totally forgotten. There were 5 areas that we were noticeable - lack of table manners, use of "yes sir" and "yes ma'am", use of "please" and "thank you," the interruptions had gotten obnoxious and the talking back had to stop.
We called a big family meeting and restated the "Brown Family Expectations." The whole Summer we focused on it, reminded and rewarded their positive behavior with rocks to fill up their jars. Soon, we were back on track! By mid July, they had filled up their jars and had proactively chosen iFly as their reward. Delaney had been awarded with Monopoly Jr. and 5 new puzzles. The Friday before school starting was the perfect afternoon to celebrate their awesome behavior all Summer.
This, being their second iFly flight in the last 8 months, we really saw a remarkable difference in their confidence and overall ability of flying. They each used their own $10 to pay for the optional "high-fly" option which they loved. It was so much fun to watch and enjoy the look on their faces. Delaney says she is ready to do this, for sure, but "when I am 5 and maybe with Asher!"

I love that her instructor was looking at his nails while she flew! ;) |
