Thanksgiving Road Trip: New Mexico - Day 5 - Ojo Caliente Hot Springs, Santa Fe Plaza & Meau Wolf

Day 5's "Day Trip" from our Santa Fe hotel included heading NORTH to Ojo Caliente Hot Springs Resort. We really wanted to experience one of New Mexico's 77 natural hot springs and this was one of the only resorts that allowed children under 12. Last minute, a friend had recommended reserving a private pool to let the kids be able to run around and be louder than the resort's public pools. That turned out to be a great idea and we started our hot springs soak that cold morning in a private pool for an jour before heading to the general pool. Although they did allow kids, we quickly got the feeling that they weren't truly welcome if they are above a whisper but we all had fun literally covering ourself with mud, baking in the sun, rinsing and repeating over and over again. One of my most fun memories of the trip was just hanging out with all 3 of the girls for an hour relaxing in the mud pool. We showered and ate lunch there at the Ojo restaurant before heading to the Santa Fe Plaza.

We started off our downtown Santa Fe visit with a little architectural history at Loretto Chapel to see the Miraculous Stairway that was built with no support column or beams. We then walked to the main plaza and Palace of the Governors to see the Native Americans selling their items. There were so many cook things to see.

Late that afternoon, we had one more big stop to make called Meow Wolf. It had been the #1 thing to do in Santa Fe but I really didn't even know what it was. After leaving Ojo Spa, I started to feeling really ill all afternoon and it got progressively worse but I knew I wanted everyone to experience this so I sat in the car for over 2 hours while they waited in the long line and inside to experience it. Meow's Wolf's House of Eternal Retrun is a unique art "experience" with non-linear storytelling that unfolds through exploration and discovery.

Meau Wolf Memories:

Delaney: "Going through the passage ways!"

Carter: Meow Wolf was amazing. At first it looked like a normal house but then you opened the refrigerator, walked in and it took you to a while different world. There were so many secret passage ways and it seemed like it went on forever...."

Addison: (Add her thoughts once I find her notes.)
