At 10:20AM, after Addison and Ella's 8AM soccer game, the 10 of us hit the road from the Classics soccer fields for the 8 hour, 625 mile drive to Alamogordo, New Mexico. We took my company van, affectionally named B.O.W. (BOX ON WHEELS) on this year's adventure and I was surprised with how easy it was to pack the 5 of us in it, leaving lots of room. The trip was super simple and the kids did great and with gaining an hour just before arriving in El Paso, we arrived into the farthest West Texas city just as the sun was beginning to set. We had time for an unplanned stop at The Scenic Drive Overlook and got the unique opportunity to watch the sun set behind 2 cities in 2 different countries - El Paso, TX USA and Juarez, Mexico. With only about an hour left to our Alamogordo hotel, we stopped for a casual dinner at Chase The Taste and walked into our Quality Suites right about 9PM, which did feel like midnight. The kids were exhausted but had done so well. It had been a smooth first day and felt great to have one of the longest drives behind us. Before leaving, we talked about this trip and how special it was and each one of us set a personal goal for the trip. Taping it above our heads definitely kept it alive all 7 days and it turned into a fun way to write down #hashtag memories that we had along our Thanksgiving week journey.

Carter suddenly started doing some pencil sketches from the backseat of the car as we looked around the Interstate.
