Meme came in town and kicked off Carter's BIG "1-0" birthday celebration a couple of weeks early! And we really never stopped from there. Since his birthday is so close to Christmas, we let him open presents as he received them throughout the month. Meme always puts so much thought and creative juices into Carter's presents and cards. She knows that Carter loves silly "knock-knock" jokes and she handmade him a card filled with them! She gave him a soccer target for the goal to help work on aiming and a very cool quarter collection kit. We spent an hour all together going through quarters trying to find all 50 states! Due to needing to pick up Carter's birthday gift from us, with a borrowed truck, he got it a few days early... an awesome couch for his own room to lounge on when he isn't up on his bunk bed. The Saturday, the night before his birthday, we celebrated his at Longhorn with The Metcalfs. Sunday morning, his actual birthday, we all woke up and went through his first 10 years of life via the "blog books" and reminisced. He even let me hold him like a newborn. Our tradition of "any special breakfast" he wants was a simple request of "chocolate chip cinnamon rolls!" Carter opened incredible new basketball shoes from Lolli and Pops and a Fit Bit from Ya-Ya and Grandpa! His birthday kept going Monday, when Blake and I went to school to bring cookie cake and ice cream to celebrate with his sweet class and Ms. Esparza. Then Tuesday, we kept celebrating with a family get together with YaYa and Grandpa, The Metcalfs, Herb, Ainsley and Aunt Erin and Uncle Matt at Longhorn!! And he still had his birthday party a couple of days later... You only turn double digits once, right?
