On Wednesday, we woke up and headed leisurely back to Phoenix, where we had most of the afternoon just to hang out. Gunner was excited to see us. Sadly, we said good by and caught our 6PM direct flight home, where we landed just before midnight.
Corona had been on my radar since March 1, but here on March 11, just 10 days later, so much had changed. Looking back, that change was nothing compared to the the following 10 days. Corona didn't cause any problems and we never were scared but it was while we were on this vacation where everything started happening, the kid's big Tiger Soccer tournament got cancelled on March 10 and everything started in those couple of days. Every single morning in Palm Springs, Kelly would give a 45 minute new update and the stories got worse and worse, with the epicenter of everything in the United States being in Washington State in a nursing home and several cruise ships quarantined off the coasts due to large numbers of Corona infections.
Getting on the plane Wednesday night and picking up our luggage was the first time we did anything out of the norm, as we wiped down all our seats on the plane and the luggage, that night at midnight.
That Friday, March 13, just a couple days after returning, they canceled school for a week and both Lilly and Gilead pulled us both from the field and from having customer interactions. The world was about to start chaining and we are grateful for this little trip.
