About six months ago, Ya-Ya and Erin had taken Addie to get her ears pierced for her fourth birthday. It was late on a Sunday afternoon when Addie was still used to naps and they had "carded" Ya-Ya and insisted that I come show my ID, as her parent, to allow her to get her ears pierced. With the delay in me getting there, Addie was over waiting and near break down territory so Ya-Ya told her to let her know when she wanted to attempt it again. Since then Addie has been solid on doing it when she turns five years old (as that is the age I told her I was when I got mine pierced.) However, something changed Friday afternoon when I mentioned to her that her BFF, Ella Perkins, has her training wheels off her bike AND has her ears pierced. Addie got a little competitive and instantly said, "Well I want to take my training wheels off and get my ears pierced right now then." I assumed she was kidding but the next day, she was still up for both. Although we haven't attempted the training wheels, we had a very impromptu Saturday party and Aunt Erin and the entire Metcalf family joined us at Claire's to get Addie's ears pierced. I was so proud of her that she never got nervous and didn't even cry one tear... she was so incredibly proud of her new studs that Ya-Ya bought her!
