Delaney's First Easter

It's fun to look back four years ago when Addie was 11 months old and celebrating her first Easter at the lake.

Delaney's Visitors

I did good the first two weeks taking pictures with most of Delaney's visitors but then I slacked off. Thank you in addition to Brooke Meabon, Jack and Nancy Neal, Regan Putnicki, Liz King, The Martinez Family and Jenna Serafy for stopping by and bringing food and precious gifts.

Big Brother Carter

It really comes as no surprise to anyone that Carter has instantly taken to his newest little sister big time. Just like with Addie 4 1/2 years ago when Carter was only 17 months old, he is instantly enamoured with the newest member to our family from day one. It worked out beautifully that Spring Break was the very week that Delaney was born so he had nine days straight to bond with her. There were times he didn't want to go run errands with Blake as he wanted to stay with the baby... it was amazing to watch this as their mom.
The entire first week, Carter called Delaney "the baby." He would hold her for 30 or more minutes and never once complain, he was at peace with her in his arms. On the very first day home, I explained to him that babies do four things: eat, poop, sleep and cry and don't worry if they cry. Sometimes they just cry and if you have made sure that they have a clean diaper, aren't hungry or overly tired, then you have done everything you can and it's okay; he's never gotten uptight or annoyed when she has cried.
That first day, I also explained that she may cry when we change her diaper because she is cold and isn't close to anyone so he can gently put his hand on her chest to calm her... everyday since, without being reminded, he has wanted to keep his warm hand on her and whispers, "it's okay baby girl, Carter is right here," to let her know he is near while I change her. He is always wanting to give her the paci and I had to explain that many times she doesn't want/need it.
He always wants to be sitting close to her while I feed her and in this 21st century has become the controller of my baby feeding app on my phone! He LOVES to be in charge of hitting all the buttons.
We couldn't ask for a better big brother than Carter and I count my blessings everyday that he is as amazing as he is with NOW his TWO little sisters to watch over and protect for the rest of his life.

My Sleepy 19 Day Old

At eight weeks tomorrow, the last week has been a transition from having a "newborn" to a baby. I cannot believe how big she has gotten in just the last two weeks.... gaining three pounds is a lot when you only weighed 9 at 5 weeks old.... that's like an increase of 33% of your body weight. My baby, that once had no control of her neck, fell asleep sitting up right after eating, never opening her hands or allowing her legs or arms to extend out is GONE. Although I'm sentimental, I'm not too sad as I have soaked in every single second of having a newborn this go-round and am excited to embrace my smiley baby girl. But I did love looking back at these super sleepy pictures when she was just 19 days old.... we still have moments like this but not as often.

Bluebonnets

When Delaney was 16 days old, she saw her first bluebonnets with her brother (6 years old) and sister (4.5 years old.)
