Addison's Classics Soccer 1st ECNL Season 2020/2021 (with Coach Tom Morrill) during COVID

Practices started August 4 with lots of scrimmages the entire month of August. We missed the first weekend Albion and Challenge friendlies Aug 8 & 9 while we were in Breckenridge, where the team lost both games. August 15, Blake took Addison to Lonestar SC in Round Rock where they won 2-1. The kids enjoyed practicing half of July and August after taking all of March - May off due to COVID.

Then, for the hottest weekend of the year, Addison, Delaney and I headed to College Station for the Aggieland friendlies August 29 & 30. Meme met us there for the weekend.

The team had 1 first loss and 2 big wins and shut-outs for Addison in last 2 games

8/29/20 (8:30 am) - Game 1 LOSS (1-2)

 Things I did good:
I had some really good punts.
I was on time and had a great warm up  outside hotel early!
Things I need to fix:
When I went out to the ball I needed to plant my feet so I could do a good dive
I need to be deeper into the goal when people(who can kick far) look like they are going to shoot.
The two goal I was scored on, what happened? Scored off a corner and coming out and getting ball.

8/29/20 - Game 2 (4-0 won)
Things I did good:
I had one really good save because I was brave, and ran straight to the ball and girl dribbling it.
I mixed up where I distributed the ball and I made it to where it wasn’t obvious where I was going to go.

Things I need to fix:
I wasn’t paying attention to the bounce and there’s a couple times I either gave away a corner or was close to giving away  a goal.
I needed to be louder when setting up a a wall or corner.

8/30/20 (12:00) - Game 3 (5-0 won)
Things I did good:
I was mentally ready and I was always focus when I had a ball come my way, and I was ready when the other team was coming.
My distribution was good and I was always ready when my team passed back to me.

Things I need to fix:
I was late.
My punts weren’t as good or as consistent as they usually are.

ECNL Season officially started September 5 vs Houston Challenge and sadly it was a big loss.

8/5/20 - Soccer game vs. Challenge in Houston LOSS 0-7

I personally played well I think I had some phenomenal saves the first quarter of the game. Then the first goal hit and because it was such an easy goal we gave them, it drained all the spirits from my team, we no longer had the confidence we came with and that leaded to the second goal. The first bunch goals didn’t drain my spirit I was still go go go but then after that it even started to drain my confidence. It was a hole another shock wave, to be honest our team was not used to losing like that. Some things I think I could of helped with was communicating, after the goals scored on me I wasn’t communicating and that helped lead to more goals and more lack of confidence. Another thing that I should of done was go hands first to the ball when going to save it, I made that mistake more than once.  A couple things I did alright was my diving saves on the ground they were definitely on point that game. I also did well placing people on corners, corners are usually what my team lacks in or gives the most chances in and all game long they didn’t even have a single chance of scoring on a corner. Coming off the line, I guess I wasn’t too bad it’s just she would beet the back line near the halfway line and then I had to go out to her high up the field and I couldn’t use my hands and she would just get around me. I guess I had no idea what I should do in those situations. Coach Dennis said, “You need to delay and stay in your goal until she starts entering the box then come off line she might tire herself out and spit the ball up and you can pick it up Makes sense 07 lost 0-1 on a PK.”

The family took a fun overnight trip to Houston September 12 for Addison's early Sunday morning game versus Albion AHFC. I really do enjoy our family's overnight trips together, cozy in a hotel room just connecting and having fun. It was Morgan's birthday that day, so it made for a fun Saturday afternoon pool party.

Soccer Game vs. Albion in Houston - Loss 0-3  9/13/20

I think that as a team we played miles better than last weekend, I think the two things we could improve are our offense and finding a good way to get to goal the second thing I think we can improve is building out of the back. I personally did  OK I didn’t do as good as I should, somethings I need to consider my options when going out to the ball or staying in goal and when I chose one I need to be confident. I also need to be mentally ready and not assume things (P. K.).

Soccer games against Oklahoma Teams
September 19 and 20, Oklahoma Tulsa and OKC came to San Antonio, and our Classics team beat both teams and played some awesome soccer! Coach Tom really adjusted the defense since the last couple of games and it seems to have made a big difference!

1st game WIN 2-0 against Tulsa 9/12/2020 at home.

We played well, especially towards the end. Once, we had realized what we were doing😂.  I personally did good there weren’t too many huge saves that I had. But overall I consistently saved the few shots I got. I think my punts were a little off Saturday and Sunday I should probably work on those. As a team I think we need to work on starting out good we always end playing really great it is at the beginning when we make mistakes and loose confidence.

2nd game WIN 1-0 against Oklahoma City at home.

Just like last game we didn’t start off great. But after a few saves I had and a few great combinations we we all back on track. I had some really great saves like one I barely tapped it just about to hit the crossbar and then dove on it. I would also say my communication was strong. My long kicks and punts are my biggest weakness or what I struggle the most on I definitely have a lot of improvement there.

HUGE WIN 3-0 against Houston Challenge, at home on 9/27/2020.

This was a huge game for the girls simply because they had lost to them 22 days earlier in their seasoning and career ECNL opener. Addison had her most solid game that I have ever seen and I was blown away by her focus, communication, decision making, over all effort and reactions. In the last quarter of the game along, she had 6 saves within 10 minutes. Mikayla scored 2 and Sadie the other and Addison and Mikalya were beyond thrilled with a late lunch and time to hang out together.

BIG TIE 3-2 against Houston Albion, at home on 10/4/2020. After loosing to them 0-3  just 3 weeks prior.

Addie had a strong game and one of the goals was a on-goal by her own teammate and the 1 goal scored against her was off a penalty kick that was perfectly placed over her head. Her punts and decision making were very strong and we immediately headed to Round Rock for 4 hours of goalie and team training with her ODP team.

*Add pic if I have one. I don't have one on my cell phone.
