Our neighbors, the Burek's had given the kids the idea of using the Kayak at Lake LBJ to hunt for baby turtles in the coves. Much of the weekend consisted of multiple trips looking for turtles. One evening, as the sun was going down, I went to check on them in a nearby cove and they had just caught a somewhat large turtle. Carter drove the kayak in the middle, Addison was the courageous one that jumped into the water once they located one. She also was the one that would swim and check under boat docks.
This was a big weekend as it was the first time we allowed Marshall out on a Sea-doo on his own and with the older kids. He and Carter had taken a boat safety coarse on line and Marshall had gotten his license since he was 15 years old.
Labor Day weekend 2018 for Blake will also be remembered as an especially painful one for him. He suddenly woke up the previous Wednesday morning, with severe pain in his upper neck, completely restricting his ability to turn his head. He and I both had been through similar sudden pains in the past 4 weeks, so we didn't believe it was a big deal thinking he had "slept wrong," and he would improve in a day or 2. Well fast forward 3-5 days later and it did not get better. On Labor Day, Monday, he made an appointment at Arosti Tuesday PM and again Thursday of the same week. It was painful but it did work miracles on him. He is still stiff a week after that, but it's significantly better. But Monday night, after we got home and swam, he walked into the garage, barefoot, to change the sprinkler schedule and got stung by a bug scorpion. His tongue even swelled for 24 hours even with immediate Benadryl on board. Poor guy....
