What a Summer! Just like I knew it would, back in February, our Summer went by at lightening speed. It was the best one yet, in my opinion, and I wouldn't change much schedule wise, looking back.
Week 1 - "It Takes a Village Week!"
I love how Meme came in for the first weekend of Summer, while Blake and I headed to Sedona and YaYa and Grandpa helps down the fort while Carter and Delaney did Dominion Summer Camp. Carter did all day golf and next year, I would love to challenge both him and Addison to do full day of tennis! Addison went to CBC Kids Camp at Tejas for her last year of elementary camp. I don't think we will do middle school camp next year with all their other overnight camps. This is also a great week if Johnson offers camps.

Play dates for Delaney! |
This summer, I really feel like we balanced a tremendous about of family time, but also got significant time with Blake and I alone, along with fun time with adults.
 |
Playdates for the adults too! |
 |
Summer means lots of creative box moments and leaving the game room a mess. |
 |
Fun nights with Aunt Julie and cousins. |
 |
Summer means most dinners by the pool. |
 |
Summer means the doorbell always ringing! |
Week 2 & 3 - Delaney's 2 Weeks as an Only Child
Carter and Addison were at LLYC Summer Camp and it was the most relaxing 2 weeks home with Delaney. She did AGS Gymnastics camp and then Camp Invention, which she loved with one of my girl friend's daughters.
 |
With Carter out of town, Blake had to do the trash for the first time in 2 years. |
 |
Countdown chain until her brother and sister get home. |
The night before we picked up the kids was a favorite night of our sitting on the back porch just being together, making up games and laughing. What a wonderful 2 weeks it had been just concentrating on Delaney. It is officially one of my favorite 2 weeks of the Summer.
Week 4: Lake Week and Random Things
Lilly started their first every Summer Shutdown week. So I was off with the kids for July 4th week. We did Fiesta Texas, hung out around the house, had orthodontist consults and did our back to school shopping.
Then we spent several days for our annual July 4th week.
 |
With Blake off to Alabama with Addison, Carter was so sweet to pack up the car like his dad always does. |
Week 5: Nike Basketball, UTSA Camp and Alabama for Addie
July 8-12. Carter did Nike Basketball camp with several of his soccer friends, while Delaney was at UTSA Ecology & Butterly Camp which was a good camp experience and she learned a lot. Addison was in Alabama most of this week and Blake and I were flying back and forth all week. Then we all came back together and headed to Port A with the Browns!
Week 6: VBS Week
We returned from Port A with the annual Brown reunion and then the kids returned for VBS. Carter loved volunteering this week.Over the last couple of years, I love taking each of the kids back to school shopping one at a time. It's just a great experience to connect with them, when I do it that way.
We retuned later in the week for Carter to have his 4 last baby teeth pulled out! They were preventing his adult teeth from coming in correctly.
Week 7: Wyoming and Yellowstone Family vacation
July 19, we left for 10 days of family vacation returning by the end of August. This time period was ideal!
Week 8: Camp Carter
The kids stayed at home for "Camp Carter" and spent a lot of time at the Burek's Tuesday and Wednesday! We then headed to Port A the very last weekend in July with the Alvarado and Kuykendall's. For Delaney next year, I would want to ideally have her in a new experience camp this week 8 & 9. Perhaps Magic Theater.
Week 9: Soccer, Band and YaYa Camp
Addison had Classics soccer practice each morning with her '07 team and then went to a couple of days of the Classics morning soccer camp, which I won in a silent auction. I probably wouldn't do that day camp again, especially when she has both morning and evening team practices this same week, although it has been good getting her back in shape. Carter had Band Camp and Delaney spent most the week with Yaya and Meme, when they covered while Blake and Megan headed to San Francisco for most of the week.
Week 10: Annual Camp Mom
I took majority of the week off this last week of summer for "annual mom camp!" We tried at ZDT Amusement Park in Sequin with The Burek's and Perkins, which was awesome, our annual day at Schlitterbahn, lots of preparation of school supplies for back to school, too!
We had the absolute best day at Schlitterbahn. We rode every single ride in the original part of the park in 2 hours and 20 minutes straight. The kid's fell in love with the classic tube float rides that Schliterbahn has had for 40 years!
This week, we had LOTS of soccer practice, fun impromptu playdates and lots of time spent labeling our school supplies!
