Thursday night, while the rest of the family was at soccer practices, Delaney and I were relaxing by the pool and we started talking about the important things in life to 4 year olds, like 'when they are going to be 5' and 'what they want to do for their birthday.' It led us to do the math and we realized that we had missed Delaney's half birthday 6 days prior. Although we have historically always celebrated half-birthdays in our home, this one had snuck by. It was so cute to to see how excited she was about it and when Carter walked in that evening, he came up to her and this is how the conversation went:
Carter, walking in from soccer practice: "Hi Mom and Delaney, how was your night?"
Delaney: "Carter, guess what, I have something to tell you."
Carter: "What's that Laney?"
Delaney: Whispering to Carter, "I am not 4 years anymore. I am 4 and a half!"
Since 4 1/2 is SUCH a big "thing," we celebrated a week late with Reece's pancakes in the morning and a cookie cake that night at the Perkins' house.
