Danielle came home for a long weekend, just before her senior year basketball season, at Tulane, gets under way. She had the amazing idea of taking the whole family hunting and it ended up being the absolute best day!!
I couldn't help but see myself as I watched Addie running around all day on the exact same land that I had done the same on when I was her age, 28 years ago.
Shockingly, on my first shot, I hit the can.
Addie and her dad were in deep discussion about shells.
All afternoon and evening, we rode around in the truck on the roads I used to drive with my dad... all the memories started flooding back. I was so happy to be able to bring Blake and our three children back to the same place and have them experience many of the same memories I had when I was young.
My dad and I were driving around the 500 acre Pearsall ranch and we drove upon a rattlesnake crossing the road. I chickened out on shooting it and when my dad missed it on the first try and had to go find more shells, I watched it frantically slither off and try to hide under a rock. Needless to say, we took care of it and the kids LOVED getting to go back and cut off the rattle to keep!
It was absolutely an amazing day. Carter, Addie and Blake stayed the night with Pops while Delaney and I went back to San Antonio with Lolli and Danielle to stay with Tiger. I can't wait for our next hunting trip.
