This Chapter In Our Lives: A Day In The Life Of Delaney At 7 Months

October 4, 2013
In four days, you sweet baby, will be seven months young and I took a vacation day to spend it with you and thought it would be fun to document your day to reflect on down the road in many, many years.
  • You started cuing and talking just before 7AM (that is sleeping in from your normal 5:40AM over the last month) and you were in the greatest mood when I walked in to find you doing "superman" on your stomach.
  • You played on our bed with Carter and Addie for 15 minutes and said goodbye as they left for school. Forget all your awesome toys for teething, your favorites are the small fringed pillow and TV remote control.
  • 7:15AM - You nursed... we have to have the older ones out of the room as you are at the age of being very easily distracted and wanting to watch them at all times. We are down to 2X a day nursing and three soy milk bottles during the day. I think I will completely wean you in the next month.

  • 7:45 - Change of clothes and we headed out for a 35 minute walk around the neighborhood. Every time we passed a neighbor, your legs would kick fanatically and you would give them a big smile. You loved following the garbage truck and meeting the little pug that lives nearby.
  • 8:15AM - You ate a little baby cereal and mostly wanted to drink water out of your sippy cup.

  • 8:40 - We played on your nursery floor, read some books and you practiced getting up on all fours and can definitely push backwards.

  • 9AM - You started rubbing your eyes so I layed you in your crib, with the sound machine on. I rubbed your back in the normal circle pattern you have always preferred for less than a minute. You jabbered away and before I knew it, you had tucked your legs in all the way and were sitting up all by yourself. I silently left the room as you talked to yourself for less than five minutes and then finally layed down for a nap.
  • A little after 10, I looked at monitor to see you silently up on all 4's and went in to get you.
  • A 6 oz bottle later and we worked on a little independent play time on my bed with all your toys. You played happily alone for 40 minutes while I watched the DVR'd Scandal.... you were so nice to mommy.

  • 11AM - You were ready for a change of scenery and we played in kitchen while I made some lunch.
  • Daddy came home for lunch and you went with him to get an oil change. You came home, had a bottle and went down for a nap at 2 and slept till 4. (Much longer naps at home than you usually have these days at daycare.)
  • You happily played with us on the living room floor as we went through paperwork. You tried baby food Squash, which you weren't much into before you got your fourth feeding, a bottle at 5.
  • You came with us to pick up Carter and Addie and we had a very fancy Friday night dinner at Taco Cabana, where you were reaching for absolutely everything in sight.
  • You had lots of play time with your brother and sister before a bath and a final bottle at 8PM. We zipped you up in your sleep sack and you flipped over on your tummy till the next day.
