One of my closest friends since moving back to San Antonio nearly 10 years ago is an amazing woman named Cindy Sebek. She was already an amazing person in my mind, but a year ago in December 2012 came up with an idea of a wine label that donates meals, at a local level, with every bottle purchased. 2013, she worked hard to make this idea a reality and come Summer time, it was really going to happen by Thanksgiving.
In mid October, Cindy called and asked me to meet her to help interview some possible interns to assist with marketing, which I was SO excited about because I love interviewing people. She asked me to come a few minutes early and I was completely shocked when she asked me to come on board as the first employee of the Gracious Gift Wine and help her with all things social media, marketing, advertising, PR, press, party planning, and just be her right hand woman.
I remember feeling incredibly honored and excited but coming home and telling Blake the news. I told him, this was the craziest busy I have ever been, recently switching jobs at Lilly which was resulting in a tremendous amount of out-of-state travel for the Summer and Winter, a new territory that had me traveling out of San Antonio 4 out of 5 days a week, nursing a third baby who wasn't the easiest one we had had, the commitment of blogging for the San Antonio Moms Blog to name a few.
As many times as Cindy and I had always talked about wanting to work together, I was doubtful if I should commit to this right now. After going through the business with Blake, it was he who insisted that I really think about this and how incredible it was to be part of something like this from the ground up. He kept reminding me of the difference that this wine label could make. It was Blake that really encouraged me to tell Cindy yes and dedicate the next 18 months to the Gracious Gift Wine Label!
