Splits!

It's been four months of weekly gymnastics classes and Addie loves to show off her splits. Although she loves gymnastics class, she told me this week she really wanted to keep taking horse back riding lessons, from her initial ones she received as a birthday gift from Meme. We'll see what she says in another month...

This Chapter In Our Lives: A Day In The Life Of Delaney At 7 Months

October 4, 2013
In four days, you sweet baby, will be seven months young and I took a vacation day to spend it with you and thought it would be fun to document your day to reflect on down the road in many, many years.
  • You started cuing and talking just before 7AM (that is sleeping in from your normal 5:40AM over the last month) and you were in the greatest mood when I walked in to find you doing "superman" on your stomach.
  • You played on our bed with Carter and Addie for 15 minutes and said goodbye as they left for school. Forget all your awesome toys for teething, your favorites are the small fringed pillow and TV remote control.
  • 7:15AM - You nursed... we have to have the older ones out of the room as you are at the age of being very easily distracted and wanting to watch them at all times. We are down to 2X a day nursing and three soy milk bottles during the day. I think I will completely wean you in the next month.

  • 7:45 - Change of clothes and we headed out for a 35 minute walk around the neighborhood. Every time we passed a neighbor, your legs would kick fanatically and you would give them a big smile. You loved following the garbage truck and meeting the little pug that lives nearby.
  • 8:15AM - You ate a little baby cereal and mostly wanted to drink water out of your sippy cup.

  • 8:40 - We played on your nursery floor, read some books and you practiced getting up on all fours and can definitely push backwards.

  • 9AM - You started rubbing your eyes so I layed you in your crib, with the sound machine on. I rubbed your back in the normal circle pattern you have always preferred for less than a minute. You jabbered away and before I knew it, you had tucked your legs in all the way and were sitting up all by yourself. I silently left the room as you talked to yourself for less than five minutes and then finally layed down for a nap.
  • A little after 10, I looked at monitor to see you silently up on all 4's and went in to get you.
  • A 6 oz bottle later and we worked on a little independent play time on my bed with all your toys. You played happily alone for 40 minutes while I watched the DVR'd Scandal.... you were so nice to mommy.

  • 11AM - You were ready for a change of scenery and we played in kitchen while I made some lunch.
  • Daddy came home for lunch and you went with him to get an oil change. You came home, had a bottle and went down for a nap at 2 and slept till 4. (Much longer naps at home than you usually have these days at daycare.)
  • You happily played with us on the living room floor as we went through paperwork. You tried baby food Squash, which you weren't much into before you got your fourth feeding, a bottle at 5.
  • You came with us to pick up Carter and Addie and we had a very fancy Friday night dinner at Taco Cabana, where you were reaching for absolutely everything in sight.
  • You had lots of play time with your brother and sister before a bath and a final bottle at 8PM. We zipped you up in your sleep sack and you flipped over on your tummy till the next day.

First Teeth

On October 3, the bottom right one finally appeared and the left one was just a day or two behind.
You may think, simply by viewing these pictures, that getting two teeth is no big deal for this gal but then you would be wrong. This little girl thinks pearly whites are highly over-rated and wasn't too thrilled about their sudden appearance. (With the severe sensitivity and desire to always be held, every waking hour, her parents are hoping the other's decide to take their time.)

Volunteering

September 23, 2013
After last year's PTA Directory Board position and 60 hours worth of work completed sitting in front of my computer, I knew I wanted to be more hands on with the kids and their teachers this year. This particular week, I had the opportunity to go to school two early mornings with each Carter and Addie, where I was able to actually teach their class for a portion of the mornings. For Carter's class, Mrs. Gonzalez, sent a lesson plan home for me (pictured above) in order to give me time to prepare. I got to teach the Covey 7 Habits Of Happy Children's lesson of the week about being PROACTIVE. Both class room experiences were spectacular and I left feeling such gratitude for Kindergarten and First Grade teachers. I sincerely believe they are angles sent down from Heaven.

The Gracious Gift Wine Label

One of my closest friends since moving back to San Antonio nearly 10 years ago is an amazing woman named Cindy Sebek. She was already an amazing person in my mind, but a year ago in December 2012 came up with an idea of a wine label that donates meals, at a local level, with every bottle purchased. 2013, she worked hard to make this idea a reality and come Summer time, it was really going to happen by Thanksgiving.

In mid October, Cindy called and asked me to meet her to help interview some possible interns to assist with marketing, which I was SO excited about because I love interviewing people. She asked me to come a few minutes early and I was completely shocked when she asked me to come on board as the first employee of the Gracious Gift Wine and help her with all things social media, marketing, advertising, PR, press, party planning, and just be her right hand woman.

I remember feeling incredibly honored and excited but coming home and telling Blake the news. I told him, this was the craziest busy I have ever been, recently switching jobs at Lilly which was resulting in a tremendous amount of out-of-state travel for the Summer and Winter, a new territory that had me traveling out of San Antonio 4 out of 5 days a week, nursing a third baby who wasn't the easiest one we had had, the commitment of blogging for the San Antonio Moms Blog to name a few.

As many times as Cindy and I had always talked about wanting to work together, I was doubtful if I should commit to this right now. After going through the business with Blake, it was he who insisted that I really think about this and how incredible it was to be part of something like this from the ground up. He kept reminding me of the difference that this wine label could make. It was Blake that really encouraged me to tell Cindy yes and dedicate the next 18 months to the Gracious Gift Wine Label!

Spirit Day Friday!

We love our first cooler Fridays where we eat dinner outside and this particular one, the five of us played a big game of basketball together, which was so much fun!
