August 26, 2013 Addie was beyond ready for her first day. All summer she hadn't shown any anxiety about her big day and the morning of was no different. I was in ah of her confidence and fearlessness for marking the first day of what will be 17 years of going to school at the very least.
Funny stories to remember: When I asked what the best part of her first day of Kindergarten, she said, "Getting to buy chocolate milk in the cafeteria!" The first day, when we asked about any friends she had met. She said a girl in her class, named Haley, wasn't that nice to her. On the second day of school and everyday after, she has announced that Haley is her best friend. She must have won her over.
In her first three weeks, she has only gotten in trouble twice, both for talking while in line... I have no idea where she gets that from. In just her first few weeks, her coloring and drawing has already greatly improved.
Addie is in a Spanish dual language program where they speak 90% of the day in Spanish... she hasn't come home complaining yet. The second day of school she came home singing Spanish songs and I overheard her the second week singing all the days of the week in Spanish.
She was anxious to finally get homework during the third week and has immediately wanted to get started on it as soon as she walks in the door. We truly didn't know what to expect with Addie's interest in school and have been totally blown away by her desire to practice saying and writing her alphabet and name. We are so blessed to have Carter's abilities to help teach her and practice with her.
