If you have spent anytime with us around our neighborhood or birthday parties the last few years, you have met the incredible Dieckman Family of 5. I remember the first time I laid eyes on one year old Audrey Dieckman at the pool, shortly after they had moved in the neighborhood, nearly four years ago. Her bleach blond spiral curly hair was hard not to stare at in 'ah'. Within the year, I had found a rare gem in Diane. This super cool, fun and above all FANTASTIC mom served as a huge mentor to me over the years as I embarked on my motherhood roller coaster. She was a gift from God and she probably has no idea how awesome I thought she was from day one. I heeded her advice on anything and everything she would say. I loved when she shared the best brand of shoes and sandals one year, then she introduced me to the high quality children's clothing line of Hanna Anderson, she taught me everything I needed to know about starting to teach Carter how to read, she spent hours talking with me about Montessori schools and even parenting styles. She is the most incredible baker and unfortunately introduced me to the best cookies in the ENTIRE world, made with a secret ingredient of pudding! She is SO crafty, it's sick. I remember her repainting her entire dining room table last year and sewing incredible party favor gifts for Amelia's first birthday. One of those crayon bags would have taken me six months to complete and she made 20 so well, that we all thought they had been professionaly made until I had the hunch to ask. See above all, Diane is modest woman and lives her life simply and focuses on the things that really matter in life. And for this reason and all the others forementioned, this neighborhood will never be the same now that they have moved on to Mississippi.
So we had to celebrate and celebrate we did! Diane's equally amazing hubby, Shane, had completed his residency, so they invited some friends with them to the hill country vineyards!
Then, a group of about 25 neighbors and friends, threw them a surprise going away party on Sunday afternoon. It was HOT, HOT, HOT but a great way to show them how much they mean to us all!
You five are already missed and we hope to see you in less than a couple of years!!!
I am speechless! Your words are so kind. Your positive presence in my life has been so meaningful and I am already missing my Texas friends, Texas home, and Texas life. I can't wait till our paths physically cross again...until then your blog will have to suffice..ha!
