Guadalupe River State Park

One of our favorite spots to enjoy with family and friends. This trip was extra special as it was Delaney's first trip to the Guadalupe River.

Frio River

This was our third annual Brown family vacation with Blake's mom, his brother and sister and their families. This year it was the thirteen of us minus Blake as he had just accepted a new job and was in California at training. 

The Frio was one of my favorite getaways because of how immersed we all were in nature with the crisp clear river running just 100 yards from our door. As a bonus, for four straight days, my cell phone didn't register even one bar of reception. The solitude of no phone or iPads solidified that once the kids are adolescents and into electronics like iPads and phones, we will take a trip every summer where there is no way to connect to anything but one another!

The final evening after roasting marshmallows, we all chased fire flies ultimately catching one... That night I added that to my bucket list and quickly checked it off. It was very magical.

Delaney's First Food

A week after turning four months old, we continued MeMe's tradition of helping feed the kids their first food. Delaney's was oatmeal cereal after our pediatrician told us the traditional rice cereal was not recommend any longer due to high levels of arsenic found in all rice. 

Delaney really did well and liked it however on day 4, she got very fussy in the evenings and seemed to be having tummy aches so we stopped the oatmeal and the fussiness went away 48 hours later.

For the record when you look back as an adult, at 4 months old at least, you are a really good baby but you hate the car, your teachers voted you "most snuggable," you had your first real giggles at the pool each time Carter and Addie jumped off the diving board.... You thought it was hysterical! You also laugh when they are obnoxious in front of you yelling "hi-ya," while holding their foam swords, you started baby oatmeal, which you loved eating, but we had to stop after 5 days because it caused you to be very fussy with an upset stomach in the late afternoons, you officially weigh in at 15.1 pounds and measure 25 inches long. Right at 4 months, you went 11.5 hours sleeping while at the Frio River, you kick ALL the time, you had a growth spurt right at 4 months and wanted to eat all the time for a day or two, you started sleeping in a sleep sack, you are so incredibly smiley, your blue eyes absolutely glisten, you regularly sleep 9-10 hours and we don't hear a peep from you in that time, you eat 7 times a day starting around 6AM with last feeding at 9 or 9:30, since you were 7 weeks I still get up and pump at 2AM while you sleep, nursing is going wonderfully, I over heard your dad talking to you telling you, you are the cutest baby we have ever made! (but don't tell your sister and brother!)

Her Favorite Position

Remember her old favorite position laying down with me? Well now, at alomost four months, she loves to be upright leaning on our shoulders and is so comfortable all cuddled up on us.
